If you wish your child to be considered for a place at a selective school (Torquay Girls Grammar School, Torquay Boys Grammar School, Churston Grammar School or The Spires College Selective Stream) you should complete a registration form for the selective entry test 11+ (available from the school) and return it to your preferred selective school by 8th September 2017.
The format of the 11+ exam in Torbay has changed and now consists of 2 CEM tests (50 minutes each) and one English writing paper (30 minutes) which will be sat on one Saturday.
The date for the 11+ exam in 2017 is
Saturday, 16th September 2017
Mid October 2017 you will receive a letter stating whether an application to a Grammar School is likely to be successful based on the results of the tests. However, positive indications do NOT guarantee you a definite place.
You will then need to submit a Common Application Form (CAF1) to Torbay Council by the 31st of October 2017 putting your preferred Grammar School first. The CAF1 is available in the TIPS1 secondary admissions booklet or on the Torbay Council website http://www.torbay.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/admissions/secondary-place/.
On the 1st of March 2018 a letter will be sent out by second class post with the result of your application. If you applied online you will receive an e-mail on the 1st of March 2018.
